Frequently Asked Questions

A beat license is a legal agreement that grants you the right to use a beat in your music for a specified period of time and up to a certain number of streams or sales. This protects both the artist and the producer, ensuring we all get our fair share of credit and compensation. A beat license can safeguard from potential legal issues, streaming platform takedowns and lost revenue - and it sets the stage for a successful music career.

Select the "🛒" icon adjacent to the beat that you want to purchase. You will then be presented with licensing options. Choose your license type to add the beat to your cart. You can continue browsing the catalog using the beat players. Once you're ready, securely complete your transaction via PayPal or credit card. Upon successful payment, you will have immediate access to your files.

Payments are handled through external platforms that offer secure payment processing. Beat leasing and exclusives are handled by BeatStars, currently accepting PayPal, Venmo, Mastercard, American Express and Visa. All other services are handled by Stripe, currently accepting all major credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Cash App.

Yes. After the payment has processed, you will be redirected to a secure area where you'll have immediate access to your files. In addition, a confirmation that includes download links will be sent to your email address. In some cases, this can take up to 48 hours. If you are unable to access your files for any reason, please contact me and I'll send the files to you manually.

Yes. All license types come with untagged files. This is different from my producer tag, which I include on every beat (typically within the first few seconds) for credit purposes. After you acquire a license, you can feel free to move or remove my tag, as it will be one of the stems included with Stem and Unlimited licenses.

Once a license for a beat expires (you've reached the specified sales and/or streaming thresholds), you can simply purchase a new license with an updated usage agreement on the condition that the non-exclusive rights are still available. This allows you to continue using the beat within the limits outlined in the new license.

Once you create a new song using my beat, we become co-writers and share ownership of the song's underlying composition equally. That means we'll both have a 50% stake in the song's publishing royalties, which come from radio play, streaming and any other commercial uses. This includes all non-exclusive licenses. Remember, non-exclusive means other artists can still license the beat. Our collaboration creates a new "derivative work" - a song where you own 100% of the master rights (the sound recording) and we jointly own the underlying composition. This way, we both benefit from the success of the song we create together.

A non-exclusive license means that the producer still owns the rights to the beat and can still license it out to other artists. Non-exclusive licenses essentially get you access to high quality production for less, allowing you to invest more money into other areas. On the other hand, an exclusive license grants you sole ownership and usage rights going forward, at which point licenses for the beat can no longer be purchased.

Consider an exclusive beat license if you anticipate your track gaining significant momentum. This grants you sole ownership and usage rights going forward. If the beat is from the marketplace, it will be removed and marked as SOLD. From that point, it can no longer be purchased by anyone - eliminating any future competition. Because of this fact, exclusive rights are not offered to every artist. If you're interested in an exclusive license, please contact me first and send me a link to some of your music. Consider a non-exclusive beat license if you're just recording a demo or mixtape. In most cases, a non-exclusive license is ideal. It allows you to experiment with a wide range of beats at an affordable price and you still own your final creation.

If you buy an exclusive license for a beat on the marketplace, it will be removed and licenses for it can no longer be purchased by anyone else going forward. Current license holders will still be able to use the instrumental as per their license terms but will be ineligible to purchase a new license. If you want a true exclusive, consider a Premium Custom Beat, which are crafted specially for you and ensure that your track is unique. Nobody else in the world will have the same beat.

Yes. All of my beats will have a free download option. Free downloads are for creative purposes only (like for songwriting), not for commercial use. For example, streaming services (i.e. Spotify, monetized YouTube videos, etc.) fall under commercial usage. But be sure to join my creative community - Cavana Crew™. It's free for you to sign up and, in addition to unlocking a collection of my beats, you get access to valuable resources, unreleased music, digital goodies and more.

Unfortunately not. This is due to the fact that beats are digital goods and are sent automatically after purchase. However, if you experience unexpected issues with your order, please don't hesitate to contact me. I'll do my best to get it resolved promptly.
